In 2005, a team spun out of the University of Málaga to bring fresh air to enterprise content management. They called it Yerbabuena — mint — because the software was meant to feel light, natural and refreshing in a category weighed down by heavy, slow tools. That team built Athento, an intelligent document platform that grew to serve banks, hospitals, councils and central administrations across Spain, Latin America and the United States.

The work taught us how enterprises really handle content, data and compliance at scale — and it sent us deeper. We went on to design data catalog and lineage at Waterline and Hitachi, run principal cloud architecture at Oracle (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP), build fine-grained access control at Okera and Databricks, deliver entity resolution and AML at Quantexa, and shape agentic AI governance — agent discovery, Trustscore, PBAC and a Unified Trust Layer — at Trust3 AI and Privacera.
